Overview:
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) provides multiple educational resources for member veterinary care providers. AAHA wanted my expertise in designing two, 24-page booklets that provided information on hypertension/chronic kidney disease in felines and animal hospital design. The goal(s) of the booklets were to inform busy veterinary care providers of how to properly identify and care for felines that exhibit the hypertension/chronic kidney disease and to stay in hospital compliance. The plan was to make the booklets available online and as a print-ready files to support easy sharing amongst AAHA members and veterinary professionals.

Challenge:
The design challenge(s) were organizing a lot of complex and critical information in a digestible and engaging manner. In addition, these booklets were lengthy, so I needed to come up with creative ways to present information on each page.
The design challenge(s) were organizing a lot of complex and critical information in a digestible and engaging manner. In addition, these booklets were lengthy, so I needed to come up with creative ways to present information on each page.
Approach:
Who doesn’t love animals, and want the best possible care for them? I approached the design of both booklets with that end goal in mind. Veterinary care providers are busy and I wanted to pack both booklets with easy and fast means to deliver content, and that meant a lot of homemade infographics and diagrams. The remaining important content I wanted to let breathe with good spacing, utilizing a hierarchy with bold headers, bold text, and bulleted lists for scannability. I had free rein in terms of color schemes for both booklets, so I did some research on color combinations that would be appropriate for the industry and audience, but also stand out from similar pieces of literature.

Both booklets were well received by AAHA members for their organization and easy to understand infographics. They are still downloaded and referenced by veterinary professionals to this day.
